Chapter 1 - Baby Blues
He passed them by silently. Only a slight nod to ackknowledge them as he went past. Gripping a set of goggles in his hands, as he made his way. He set them before the carven stone, but paused. "I know your there, come out." he sighed. A woman stepped before him, setting down a tightly woven bundle near the monument. She nodded to him, before taking off into the forest. Only then, did he notice the pack on her back, and realized she would not be coming back. He shrugged. It was not his business. She was of the Uchiha clan. He shook his head, remembering the emblem, thought that person was of another time. He set the flowers beside the monument. White lilies, and red carnations, is what they were. In memory of an old friend. Only the sudden wiggle of the bundle drew him from his thoughts. He picked it up gently, before pulling back the fabric. A tiny infant, with white locks, and pale blue eyes. Clenched tightly in her fist was the emblem of the Uchiha clan, as the end of a long, thin chain about her neck. He walked to the compound confused, and lost as to what to do. Only to be turned away.
He sought out the only one he knew he could ask. "Iruka, what do I do?" Kind eyes met his with an understanding.
"Why not raise her?"
"I'm no good with kids." he shrugged that thought off.
"Yet she doesn't cry."
"She hasn't cried since I found her."
"The baby trusts you."
"I'm a complete stranger!"
"Then where will she go?"
He gulped. "I...I don't know.."
"Why not try?"
"I'm too busy to raise a kid!" he said. "And I'm away on missions alot..."
The other sighed. "Try the Inuzuka clan. They might be willing to help."

"Kakashi?" the woman stared at the strange sight. "What is this?" She tickled the baby who cooed.
"Baby girl..." he nearly coughed on the words.
"But what is her name?"
"Huh?"
"What is your girl's name?"
"Sachiko." he told her.
"Well little Sachiko," the woman smiled warmly. "Where is your mother?"
"Gone." he spoke quietly. "She abandoned her."
"Such a quiet child." the woman nodded to him. The baby was crying, and though her tears flowed quickly, not a sound was made. He felt his heart sink in his stomach. He began to rock her slowly, till her tears slowed to a stop. "Heh, your good with her."
"I...uh..."
"Iruka dropped by." she told him. "What do you want to do?"
"Can you...?"
"Of course." she nodded.
"I'm grateful, really." he bowed.
"Don't be a stranger now," she teased lightly, but turned away. " Knock when your ready."

A knock on the door drew their attention. It was opened slowly, but he nearly toppled over, when two small forms tackled him. "Hello Kiba, Hello Sachi." He greeted them each in turn.
"Kakashi - san!" Kiba bounced excitedly, as the girl only smiled. He tusseled their hair, and held them both.
"Now, now Kiba..." the mother rebuked lightly. "Let her have her visit."
"Aww...mom!"
"I promise we'll play later Kiba." the girl spoke quietly.
"Well, since you promised. Okay!" he nodded.
"Come on." he waved for her to follow him outside. She did so as fast as she could, without falling.
"Kakashi - sama?" she spoke up. He chuckled at her eagerness.
"Yes?"
"Um.." she turned shy.
"You can ask."
"Who's that boy that shows up around you?"
"What boy?" he raised his visible brow.
"I don't know...he always wears goggles."
"What does this boy look like?"
"He has dark hair, and he has the same symbol as the Uchiha chain, I wear on his back."
"Now Sachi, I work with several Uchiha."
"But he's see - through!" she protested.
"What's his name?" he was curious.
"Can't you see him?"
" Where?"
"Beside you."
"So, she can see me, eh?" he chuckled. "Heh."
Kakashi turned, and could only stare at the image before himself.
"Obito?" he breathed.
"He can barely see me, little one." He winked at her.
"He can't hear you?" she whispered.
"'fraid not."
"Oh.."
"You can see him, Sachi?" Kakashi asked. She bowed her head, but nodded once.
"Your not in trouble, little Uchiha." A pale hand was placed on her head.
"Why does he call me that?"
"Who calls who what?" Kakashi asked.
"Is he your friend?" she motioned toward the boy.
"It's rude to point you know." the boy pouted.
"Gomenasai."
"Why are you sorry?" Kakashi spoke softly.
"Because asking made you both sad."
He jumped slightly, but picked her up by her waist. "I think you deserve a story." He hugged her tightly.
"No..dun be sad!" She pulled down his mask, and wiped at his eyes with her sleeves.
"You can tell, huh?" he asked, rocking her. "You'll understand why, someday."
"Why not now?"
"Because you need to be older for this story."
"You promise to tell me, Kakashi - sama?"
"Why do you call me 'sama'?" he asked.
"Because I really like you." He hurriedly pulled up his mask.
"I promise to tell you." he tusseled her hair.
"Yay!" she cheered. "Will you tell me more about Obito - kun, too?"
"Of course." He smiled beneath his mask.
* * *
"Kiba!" she called, running over.
"Huh? Sachiko?" he was distracted.
"Are you okay?" she asked.
"You can tell, huh?"
"Yeah..." she admitted. "Eep!" She squeaked as he hoisted her uo on his shoulders.
"You're so little!" he teased.
"I''m not that little!"
"You tried it again?" he asked, inspecting her hands.
"I'll be able to do it someday." she told him.
"Maybe you will." he grinned.
"I hope so." she sighed.
"Hey, your still growing. There's time." He sat her down. "Be right back."
"You're not going to tell him the rest?" a familiar gray figure asked.
"It would only worry him, and he'd get beaten up too." she smiled sadly.
"Come here, Sachi."
"Gomen, Kakashi - kun." she told him, and hugged him tightly. But she refused to cry.
"It's alright." he rocked her.
"He would smell it, and know if I did."
"Hmm." the jounin sighed.
"He's going to be going to the academy soon." she told him.
"Oh, really?"
"Mhm."
"Are you going too?" he asked her.
"Of course." she smiled.
He raised his brow questioningly.
"I want to be stronger." she bowed her head.
"You are very strong." he told her.
"Maybe." she sighed.
"There's more isn;t there?"
"Kakashi, may I call you..umm.."
"Call me what?"
"Ano..."
"You can tell me anything."
"May I call you my dad?" she looked away, and crawled off his lap.
"Of course." He picked her up, and rocked her in his arms, kissing her forehead, through the mask. "You are my little girl, after all." She giggled, and hugged him tightly. She kissed his cheek, before he set her down.
"I'm back!" A familiar voice yelled. "Oh...I guess we can go later."
"Nu!" She linked arms with Kiba. "Bye daddy!" She waved to Kakashi. "Let's go play, Kiba! Please?" He grinned, and both ran off toward the dogs.
"They sure grow up fast." the woman chuckled.
"Yeah, they do." he shrugged, watching them.
"She's been wanting to call you that for years." the woman smiled, and turned away.
